Disney Cookabout Season 2
Production company: Penguin Films Ltd; On-screen credit: None as Disney Staff; Programme type: Childrens, Comedy, Light Entertainment, Multi camera Studio, Reality; Broadcaster: SABC & Disney Channel.
Disney’s Cookabout is a comedic adventure game-show that uses food preparation, cooking and outdoor exploration to showcase local ingredients and a fun-filled approach to healthy eating. Chef Kirsten (Kirsten Mohamed) and her side-kick Sous Chef Mthunzi (Mthunzi Ntoyi) host the show and together, this comedic duo demonstrate to a dynamic group of ‘cooktestants’ how to create simple and appetizing meals. As each cooktestant is sent on an excursion to find supplies, they explore South Africa’s fresh, locally farmed, wholesome produce, giving fascinating insights to the food we often only see in supermarkets or on our dining room tables. Once the ingredients are collected, the team is transported to the magical Cookabout Kitchen where anything can happen, from doors and drawers sliding open and appliances responding to secret voice commands. Each week, the cooktestants will battle it out to take home the Silver Spoon as they carry out challenges at the various locations and attempt to create the tastiest dish in the kitchen – all in a race to be awarded the Cookabout Golden Trophy. Get set as Disney’s Cookabout serves viewers a hilarious and entertaining gastronomic journey across the Western Cape.
